Local Initiatives

• Sign the pledge to wait until at least 8th grade to get your kid a smartphone. There’s nothing to buy or do; you’re just making a commitment with other families in your child’s class. There are dozens of families in the MMUUSD district that have already signed the pledge, but there are only a few grades that have reached the tipping point to activate the pledge. Sign up - there is strength in numbers!

Statewide Initiatives

• Sign the Letter of Support for Phone- and Social Media-Free Schools from the Vermont Coalition for Phone and Social Media-Free Schools. Check out PhoneFreeSchoolsVT for more action steps.

• There is phone and social media-free school legislation going into the House and Senate with bipartisan sponsors for both bills. Here is the link to the national model legislation which Jonathon Haidt is publicly endorsing: Phone-Free Schools Model Legislation (Our Vermont legislation is basically the same thing).
